In John 9:1–3, Jesus corrects a common belief that suffering is always the result of sin, explaining that the blind man’s condition existed so that God’s works could be revealed. This challenges our instinct to ask, “What did I do wrong?” when hardship strikes. We live in a broken world where pain often seems random, but Jesus reminds us that our suffering can have purpose. Rather than being defined by pain, we are invited to see it as a platform for God’s glory. Satan wants to use suffering to discourage and distract us, but God can transform it into a testimony. Instead of asking, “Why me?” we can pray, “Lord, what are You showing me?”—trusting that today’s trials may become tomorrow’s ministry.
